About Me

Age has never been a hurdle for me. In fact the older I get it seems this life gets less and less about accomplishments and much more about life's adventures. Life needs to be lived. I have seen and done a lot. More than most. Why not share the adventures? Often I crave to have you join me. Often I submit to doing it alone. It need not be that way. Throw the safety net aside and be my companions in this journey. After all, the journey is the destination!

A New Journey

First, I want to apologize to all who have been following my previous blog. December and January were full of travel, celebration, love, and loss. As I begin to develop this new blog I suppose I will go into greater detail about what exactly has gone on since I fell off the face of the earth ... and landed in a little corner of heaven!

I am now living in New Mexico. Things quickly went South with the landlord in Calhan. They decided they were not going to do the needed upgrades on the insulation as they'd said. So I made calls to authorities and made sure I could get out of my lease legally and I followed their advice and did just that. All the while, I was also seeing a very special person in New Mexico. After long talks that lasted hours and a couple visits to the house near Abiquiu, I moved. The move went fairly well in a couple stages in January. My chickens and my two barn kittens made the move well. As I was leaving Colorado my neighbors decided at the last minute to take my big barn cat, Shadow. The kittens are acclimating to their bed under a heat lamp in the shed and the chickens are adapting to their makeshift coop in an old shed. Bacci, now has a sweet older female pooch in his life, Maggie, and has discovered that wood burning stoves are man's greatest invention.

The 100 yr old adobe home that we share is about two miles from the small historic village of Abiquiu. The property is approximately nine acres and is situated in a great location. It's in the Rio Chama valley surrounded by wonderful views, a beautiful canyon to the North, mountains to the South, valley to the East, and cliffs to the West. The corner of the property is fifty yards from the Rio Chama! My fly rod will come in handy now and see lots more use!

My partner, Mark, is an avid amateur photographer who hopes to break into the art market soon so that his hobby starts paying for the pricey equipment he now owns. With his keen eye and talents and my love of capturing life in pictures I have already a big collection of photos to share. I have high hopes in my upcoming blogs of sharing words and pictures of my new life with Mark, stories of my adventures, and of course the most popular, stories of my animals.

I suppose you all have figured out by now that I have been rather "nomadic" to be kind. I have always thought of myself as a "nester" but looking back over the last few years that's hardly the case. I believe fully that I have wanted to build a nest but didn't have the special person to do it with. Not having that person has indeed led me down a path of wonderful adventures. I have lived in and seen many areas of the U.S. and captured lots of it in stories and in photos. Now I have a special someone, a new journey has begun, and by the looks of things a nest can be built and adventures will be that much more interesting. Mark loves the outdoors, maybe more than I do, so that in itself makes me believe that life will be even better than before.

... Let the journeys and stories begin!
